- should not be running, by default (just available)

- FireFox web-browser
- K3B for cd/dvd writing
- logwatch, set to e-mail daily to research-admin
- amanda-client
- tripwire intrusion-detection
- SSHd AllowUsers directive should be used; root login allowed (for admin reasons)
