Research Workstations - default software loads
A standard Research computer will have the following software installed.
Windows XP SP2

- must first perform install using our original CD, AND you must run it. This embeds the licensing, which is mandatory for succesful downloads/upgrades from Nikon's web site http://nikonusa.com -> Software Downloads. you must upgrade incrementally, several times (ie from 4.2 to 4.3 to 4.4).

- when installing RealPlayer, manually de-select every single media-type which has another association already (such as Windows Media Player). Installing other players (like Quicktime) after RealPlayer will ensure they handle the media-types they should. Restrict RealPlayer to as few media-types as possible.)
- disable the Real Message Center. Turn it off so it doesn't even load in the System Tray.
